Choreography: Sasha Waltz

Zürich, Switzerland.
Sasha Waltz has consolidated her two major projects for museums to create the full-length choreography. In 2009 the choreographer devised the artistic inaugurations for David Chipperfield’s Neues Museum, Berlin and Zaha Hadid’s MAXXI in Rome. Sasha Waltz is developing with 24 dancers a large-sized, archaic choreography on the base of Edgar Varèse’s great work for orchestra Arcana. The well-established scenography team comprised of Thomas Schenk, Pia Maier Schriever and Sasha Waltz is complemented once again by Bernd Skodzig. His both cool-elegant and sensual enthralling costume designs interact congenially with Sasha Waltz’s visual conceptions. Continu exhibits a tension between choreographic and pictorial elements, coalescing essential characteristics of Sasha Waltz’s work in a new way.
